Richard Wainwright is indeed a chip off the old block, his father is a well know tree surgeon from Cheshire, now (mostly) retired. Originally trained as cabinet maker as well as dad's young runner, Richard returned to working with living trees and creating larger outdoor pieces, having missed the interaction with living wood and landscapes. There is a deep satisfaction in caring for beautiful trees and ensuring once their time as standing trees is over, that it is just the beginning of a whole new life for the timber, in revealing and working with its beauty and strength, in leaving behind pieces which could last for decades, slowly evolving and maturing.
It's important to Richard and his colleagues that when caring for trees they only carry out works to the highest possible professional standard but also that they carry out work that is justified, that recognises the greater value of trees to our wider community, to our environment and our wildlife. We work with a wide range of professionals who share this vision and together create a pool of skills, imagination and creativity that we can bring to our projects. Equally we are always happy to form new partnerships with like minded people.
